This Powerline & Transmission Tower Rescue Course in Sydney covers the performance of rescue procedures from an electricity supply industry (ESI) tower in the workplace. It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from an ESI tower and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work
What you will learn
- Applying relevant work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements, including the use of risk control measures
Inspecting and placing rescue equipment
Performing tower rescue in accordance with workplace procedures. - Emergency procedures for the tower rescue of a victim encompassing:
Inspection of rescue equipment
Assessing hazards to rescuer, victim and others
Isolation procedures where appropriate
Safe approach distances SAD appropriate to tower rescue
Involvement of external emergency services
Emergency procedures required for tower rescue of a victim encompassing:
Placement of rescue equipment
Controlling hazards to rescuer, victim and others
Maintaining SAD appropriate to tower rescue
Steps in rescuing a person
Removing victim to safe location/place of safety.

What are the entry requirements?
Pre-requisite Unit:
- HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation which is included in the course.
Additionally, before making a booking students must:
- Be 18 years or older (unless prior arrangements have been made).
- Be able to clearly communicate (speak), read and write in English to a high standard.
- Have proficient computer skills with internet access. Preferably access to a Laptop/Desktop with a good WiFi connection to download the pre-course Learner Guide.
Physical/Personal Requirements:
- Physically, medically and mentally fit.
- Able to lift and drag an 80kg dead weight approx 20 meters, conduct 5 heaves/pull ups, 30 push ups and able to operate at heights. Not be more than 120kg. Not have any medical conditions or phobias that may endanger yourself or other students including fear of heights or physical injury.
What are the Assessment Requirements?
During the course students must complete both theory and practical assessments under the following conditions in order to be deemed competent:
- Theory Assessment- Individual online theory assessment, which the student must get 100% in allotted time and attempts.
- Practical Assessment/s- Individual practical assessment based on scenarios given by the assessor in which the student must complete in order to prove their understanding of the subject and overall competency.
- Have a good attitude towards their training and overall safety.
NOTE: If a student is not successful in achieving a competent result for whatever reason, a re-booking or re-assessment fee will be applied depending on their short comings of their assessment/s.

2 Days (8 Hours approx. per day) face to face (with pre-course reading and online theory assessment for HLTAID009 Provide CPR)
